On September 11, at the Ferrol shipyard, a historic day was marked with the launch of the F-111 “Bonifaz” frigate, the first unit of the new F-110 series for the Spanish Navy. For the entire CT team, it has been a pride to be part of this project alongside Navantia, which leads its development, and to contribute with our engineering to the construction of a world-class vessel.

CT was represented by our CEO, David Prieto, and Juan Sousa, Site Manager, at an event attended by Her Majesty Queen Sofía, the ship’s sponsor; the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez; the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles; the Second Vice President, Yolanda Díaz; the President of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda; the Mayor of Ferrol, José Manuel Rey Varela; the President of Navantia, Ricardo Domínguez; as well as other civil and military authorities.

The F-111 “Bonifaz” is the first unit of the F-110 class, also known as the Bonifaz class. This multipurpose vessel is designed for escort, anti-submarine, anti-air, and anti-surface missions, offering unprecedented operational flexibility for the Spanish Navy.

It incorporates cutting-edge technology such as advanced sensors and radars, integrated combat management systems, advanced automation, and the use of digital twins, which allow its performance to be simulated and optimized before deployment. Furthermore, its design and construction have promoted a high degree of nationalization, with the participation of more than 500 Spanish companies, strengthening the country’s naval and technological industry.

Thanks to these innovations, the F-111 becomes the most modern and technologically advanced vessel in the Spanish Navy, capable of adapting to different defense scenarios and contributing to national and international operations with maximum efficiency and safety.
