CT Engineering, Behind the Engineering of the F-112 “Roger de Lauria” Frigate
October 28, 2026

The F-112 “Roger de Lauria” frigate was launched yesterday in Ferrol, marking another milestone in the F110 program. Built by Navantia for the Spanish Navy, the F-112 is the second of five frigates in the series. CT Engineering has worked on the development of this vessel, as it did on the first frigate, the F-111, bringing its engineering expertise and capabilities to this strategic project.

Represented by its CEO, David Prieto, and Regional Director, Juan Sousa, CT Engineering attended the ceremony to celebrate this achievement alongside Navantia, the Spanish Navy, and the professionals whose work makes this ambitious program possible.

CT Engineering began working on the F110 program more than five years ago. Since then, the company has contributed to different stages of the project, from functional engineering to the design of key components, including elevators and mooring and towing systems. Its work also includes the integration of critical systems such as the vertical launching system (VLS), the main gun, and the sonar.

In addition, CT Engineering carries out Verification and Validation (V&V) activities, supports equipment and systems integration, and develops the technical documentation required during the construction phase. These activities help ensure that the systems meet the Spanish Navy’s demanding quality and performance requirements.

CT Engineering has also developed the detailed engineering for the CIST (Land-Based Systems Integration Center), located at the Rota Naval Base. This facility allows the systems and sensors used on F110 frigates to be tested and validated before installation onboard, helping ensure proper integration and identify potential issues early in the construction process.

The launch of the F-112 “Roger de Lauria” marks another step forward for the F110 program and highlights the collaborative effort behind one of Spain’s most technologically advanced naval projects. For CT Engineering, working on both the F-111 and F-112 reflects its commitment to delivering advanced engineering solutions for complex defense programs and supporting the Spanish naval industry.

Congratulations to Navantia, the Spanish Navy, and all the professionals involved in this achievement. We would also like to recognize the CT Engineering teams for their professionalism, dedication, and commitment to the F110 program.

At CT Engineering, we are proud to be part of this program and to continue applying our engineering expertise to the future of Spain’s naval industry and Navy.
