CT has been awarded an Iberdrola framework agreement to provide Owner’s Engineering services for offshore wind projects worldwide. This award strengthens CT’s position as a strategic partner in the development of major energy infrastructure projects of international significance.
Under the scope of this agreement, CT’s teams will carry out Owner’s Engineering activities in the Protection and Control area, including the review of medium- and high-voltage bay schemes, validation of protection coordination studies, and supervision of the control systems associated with the electrical installations of offshore projects.
This award represents further recognition of CT’s experience and technical expertise in electrical power systems, particularly in highly complex technological environments where the reliability, safety, and availability of installations are critical.
Collaboration on Some of Iberdrola’s Major Offshore Wind Farms
Iberdrola is currently one of the world’s leading offshore wind energy companies, with assets in operation and under development across Europe and North America. Its operational offshore wind farms include:
- East Anglia ONE (United Kingdom), with an installed capacity of 714 MW, one of the most significant offshore wind projects in the North Sea.
- Wikinger (Germany), an offshore wind farm located in the Baltic Sea with an installed capacity of 350 MW.
- Saint-Brieuc (France), one of France’s largest offshore wind farms, developed by Iberdrola off the coast of Brittany.
- Baltic Eagle (Germany), recently fully energized, with a capacity of 476 MW and the ability to supply renewable energy to approximately 475,000 households.
Participation in East Anglia TWO
Among the projects included within this framework, East Anglia TWO stands out as one of the strategic developments being advanced by Iberdrola through its subsidiary ScottishPower Renewables in the North Sea, off the coast of Suffolk (United Kingdom). This offshore wind farm will have an installed capacity of up to 960 MW, enough to supply clean energy to approximately 950,000 homes, and is part of the East Anglia Hub megaproject, which will comprise more than 3.9 GW of offshore wind capacity.
The East Anglia TWO project will be located more than 30 kilometers off the British coast and will feature up to 75 wind turbines, as well as complex offshore and onshore electrical infrastructure for the transmission and connection of the generated power to the transmission grid.
CT’s involvement in projects of this kind will enable the company to contribute its expertise in protection and control systems to ensure the highest standards of safety, reliability, and technical quality in the integration of large-scale renewable energy facilities into the power grid.
